Pass the American Rescue Plan Now.
In 2020, a record number of Americans voted and elected new leaders to address the pandemic and get the country back on track. On February 27th, Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives took a critical step forward by voting to pass the American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion package to scale up vaccinations, expand affordable health care access, extend unemployment benefits for jobless workers and provide other needed support. The bill passed by seven votes although every House Republican opposed it.
This relief package will ensure that everyone, no matter what they look like or what zip code they live in will have the resources and support they need to make ends meet and take care of their families in these times. That’s why 76% of voters in the United States, including 60% of Republicans, support the bill.
Now, the Senate will consider the bill and Senate Republicans are already making clear that they will oppose key provisions like broad distribution of $1400 per person stimulus checks, more money to state and local governments that are struggling to avoid layoffs and service cuts and $400 weekly income supplements to jobless workers. Over a million government workers including teachers, health care workers and public safety staff have already lost jobs.
It’s time to take action today to let Senators know constituents across America are behind the 2021 American Rescue Plan.
