Senate Tax Bill Is Another Tax Giveaway to the Rich and Corporations
Just like the House bill, the Senate tax bill paves the way for huge cuts to Medicaid and Medicare
Washington, D.C. – The Republican Senate released its tax plan today, that like the House’s bill will lead to huge cuts to Medicaid and Medicare to pay for massive tax cuts for the rich and big corporations. In response, Health Care for America Now Co-Directors Ethan Rome and Margarida Jorge released the following statement:
“Just like the House GOP’s tax bill, the Senate Republicans’ will cut health care and force working and middle-class Americans to pay more in taxes to make way for huge tax breaks for the very wealthy and big corporations.
“Transferring more wealth to the richest people and corporations already making record profits won’t create jobs, reform the tax code or help America’s families in any way. All it will do is slash health care for people who need it to pay for tax breaks for people and corporations who should be paying more, not less.
“Instead of slashing health care to line the pockets of millionaires, billionaires, and big corporations, Congress should be working to help everyday American’s make ends meet and live better lives. Enough is enough. It’s time for the Republicans to end their war on health care once and for all.”

Health Care for America Now (HCAN) is the national grassroots coalition that ran a $60 million five-and-a-half year campaign from 2008-2013 to pass, protect, and promote the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and protect Medicare and Medicaid. HCAN has come back together to fight the Republicans’ all-out effort to take away America’s health care and put people at the mercy of the health insurance companies again.
