Dear friends: I have been fortunate to have been able to pay the $453.00 every month for my health insurance. I am single and self employed. However, I am turning 65 in 2 days. Thinking I would be saving a lot money by being on medicare, I went to sign up last month.

Well, now I have to have 3 policies: Medicare part B - 96.00 per month: BCBS medigap: $411 per quarter: and AARP prescription drug plan, $32.00 per month. I am not saving that much if you do the math. Luckily I am still working.

What about all this retirees and elderly who can't afford this? I feel sorry for them. I may be one of them when I finally retire (in about 10 years at this rate) We need to act!

Respectfully,

Mary Ann McKay
