For 15 years I suffered with debilitating health problems; especially painful, my back. Unable to walk or stand for more than a few minutes; I was turned down for SS/Disability twice; I also have been diagnosed with clinical depression.
Finally, on the 3rd application I was 'awarded' a small monthly check and medical assistance. Of course, irreversible damage has occurred in the meantime; and I will never be able to work again. Had I had the care I so desperately needed over a decade ago, I'd be in better shape now; and not a burden to my loved ones.
Mine is just one case in this country; when people are used up and tossed aside like toilet paper. It's too late for me; but, single-payer health care for all would pay for itself in countless ways, including early diagnosis and treatment, the productivity of those currently neglected would be a boom for our nation.
