its simple. As a Ship Captain I can't compete with other countries Captains or take a job from foreign companies who are allowed to work in our waters (gulf of mexico construction vessels for the oil field) because their mariners have national health care and those companies have no way to provide me with health care.. so I work for companies that are handicapped in a high tech industry that is very globalized. meanwhile my son, who is a musician, my daughter, who is an artist do not have and can't get health care because they are self employed. So everyone in our family is dependent on my income if they need health care. this has gone on long enough.
