Happy Valley, OR

My sister, age 42, living in Ohio recently (Father's Day 2008) had a stroke, at least that's what they diagnosed when she went into the hospital. She was admitted into the hospital early that day. Later on in the day, some six hours later, when the registration clerk came to see her, they were shocked to find out that she is uninsured.
Within an hour she was discharged with a completely different diagnosis, one that does not require hospitalization or medical observation. She was sent home, where she lives alone, with instructions to rest and follow up with her non-existent regular doctor. Needless to say, my sister is not doing well. There has been no medical follow-up.
I am appauled and disgusted that Americans can have serious medical problems such as this and be shoved out the door because of lack of insurance. This is the wealthiest country in the world!! Why should any of us lack decent medical care?? We are in great need! Need for putting some of the billions we now send to other countries back into our own citizens. Yes, I do support international medical aid, but NOT at the expense and death of our own citizens! It's time Americans become angry about this, because when America rises in anger, we unite. A united America gets things done!
