I retired from a major medical center 1 1/2 yrs
ago after 24 years of service. I'm on COBRA now as the hospital has no retirement health care plan. When I'm finished with COBRA I'll be looking for an individual health plan that will accept me since I have asthma and a thyroid condition. A major HMO I contacted said "don't even bother filling out the application". Apparently, health insurance is only for the healthy. I think it's a sorry testament to us
as a country that we don't have universal
affordable health care. It's a shame to have
to worry about something so basic.
