In 2002, I was diagnosed with manic depression. At that time, I was forty eight years of age, had a decent job, fairly compassionate benefits: Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance, 401K, and a few other little benefits. The short version of the story is between the underlying malady and the many noxious nostrums inflicted on me by the Psych community --- electroshock, atypical antipsychotics, antdepressants,I"ll condense it, something like over thirty different meds in a two year period, not to mention five hospitalizations between 2002 and 2007. Along the way, my private insurance paid for some of this, but all the alternative care I paid for myself, by liquidating the bulk of my savings. I forgot to mention, I lost my job too; the atypical antipsychotics made me psychotic. Now I receive Social Security disability and Medicare. Thank god for that old nemesis of mine, F.D.R. Funny how, in the course of one's life, those who you perceived as your enemies, transmogrify into your friends.
Good luck to all
