We're luckier than some, but not as well off as others with health insurance. My husband is retired military so we're covered under TRICARE health insurance. We pay premiums each month--TRICARE isn't free for retirees. And some physicians and psychologist/psychiatrists will not accept what TRICARE is willing to pay.

One big worry for us right now is our son who turns 20 soon. In just over a year he will no longer be covered by TRICARE unless he is enrolled in school full time and then only up to age 23. Why the worry? He is diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, a type of autism, and has required psychological services in the past.

So, do we give up on him and apply for SSI which would require that he be considered disabled for life, or do we go out on a limb and try to give him a chance for a reasonably normal life?
