I am a family practitioner in rural KY. My practice is focused on care for the uninsured and we are overwhelmed with business. However, I am also concerned about the underinsured because frequently it is harded to find assistance for them. Many times, having bad insurance is worse than no insurance. For this reason, I cringe when I hear the candidates talk about bringing health insurance to everyone. Our goal should not be universal health insurance, it should be UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE. If this can be accomplished best with a universal health insurance plan, then so be it. However, I doubt this would be the most cost efficient and effective means.
