My husband and I just decided to try to find a better policy since th eone we are on which was said to be a major medical was not to our dismay. We thought we would be covered in a catastrophe. When my husband came up high on both blood pressure and cholestral after their nurse did a blood screen and pressure check, he was denied even though he has had perfect health and no symptoms. He since has seen a doctor and gotten a complete blood work-up only to find that his cholestral is 185, under the 200 level just three weeks after the first test was taaken. He indeed did change his diet but his other numbers on the test were so low it is hard to imagine such an immediate recovery. Since being on blood pressure medication, his pressure is very low. Yet the insurance company we applied to will make him wait a year before insuring him. Meanwhile we are searching for a major mediacal insurance that will take him now.

In my case, because my cholestral was over 200 ( 237) I will be charged an extra $40 a month even though my doctor wrote on my report that because my other numbers were so good on the test, I did not need any follow-up care. I am now forced to retake the blood test to see if my cholestral is now below 200 so I will not be charged and of course these tests will be out of my pocket. This policy will have a $10,000 deductible plus I had to sign a waiver for my glacoma and goiter, even though the glocoma has been treated for years and the goiter is no threat.

These companies are all about profit and not our health. the number of hours it is taking just to get this all resolved is unacceptable. When I worked and had health insurance, I never scrimped on my health care. Now I spread things out and worry that our coverage is not adequate.
