I live in university town and I meet a lot of foreign students. Some of the places they come from are not thought of as being as "well off" as the United States. These foreign folks, though, often say to me, "There is one thing I just don't understand about America. Why are your health benefits so awful? Where I come from, country X, our benefits are so much better!" And at that moment, I am ashamed to be an American.
