I have chronic diarrhea from ulcerative colitis. I cannot lead a normal life. I own a small business making custom lampshades and this does not bring in enough money for health insurance. In fact, I cannot get health insurance with my colitis (I have been turned down). I cannot afford to get a colonoscopy. I cannot afford the medication to help the diarrhea ($350. a month). I am now getting my medication from Canada where it costs $200. for FOUR MONTHS. I feel like moving to Canada. No one cares because there are too many like me. I'm only one and it's certainly not the saddest story out there. Doctors are so overwhelmed, they don't bother to read your chart - just get the PDR out and prescribe more drugs from the drug lords. No time to be Dr. Welby now. What about the old people? What about the children suffering? This is one of the most inhumane systems in the world today, and we are wealthy and educated! Something stinks. It smells like greed.
