In Oct., 2007, I was laid-off due to an on-the-job injury. Workman's Compensation provides enough for me to live on, but my COBRA payment takes 16% of that money plus doctors' visits, health care, and meds not covered under the injury takes another 10%. If I don't drive anywhere, pay my bills, or eat anything out of budget, I can get by; however, I will have to file for bankruptcy because of this situation, ruining my credit for years to come. Why should I have to pay many times over for essentially inadequate insurance because of an on-the-job injury? There is no justice in that.
