The only time in my life I didn't have health insurance due to large mortgage company buyouts and quick job losses as a result of those buyouts, at this time I had a devastating snow mobile accident.

The health care needed was an air craft lift to the hospital, a lung tube and several xrays and scans over the broken bones. The hospital stay was 10 days.

I had no health insurance to pay the tens of thousands of dollars in hospital expenses. I couldn't pay for the rehabilitation needed after the hospital.

I was a single parent.

I went bankrupt.

I would not have needed to file for bankruptcy on all my bills had affordable health insurance been available to me.

The hospital would have gotten paid something for saving my life. The doctors that stepped up to give my lung a breathing tube would have gotten compensated for it from my health covereage.

I would not have felt like a thief to their services. I would not have sunk into an overwhelming depression, desperation and anxiety.

This would have made a tremendous difference to my mental well being and financial well being.

It would have made a world of difference to my little child and my whole family that witnessed not only my physical pain, but the lingering emotional and financial pain.

Affordable health care is a family value.
