I work in the field of addictions treatment and we are consistently undermined by the limits of mental health coverage. Too often we have to release clients that are ill prepared to successfully return to their homes and families. These clients ultimately relapse only to begin the process again, if they are lucky enough to survive their relapse. It costs way more to keep people re-cycling into treatment, and in highly intensive treatment which is much more expensive, then to keep them initially until effective treatment can afford the best opportunity to succeed, for a longer period of time, and at less expense overall.
