The biggest problem in healthcare right now is the design of the system, which health insurance companies have preyed on. They profit from Medicare Advantage, with benefits no greater than traditional Medicare for the participants but at a higher cost to the taxpayers. They take 20 cents off the top of every premium dollar for doing nothing more than creating hurdles and roadblocks and paying claims to hospitals and physicians slowly.
Without comprehensive reform, there will always be organizations who profit from the system's design without providing any real value to people in need. Real reform will deal with the needs of patients, deal with the risks that people face (health and financial risks), and deal with the risks to the economy of rising health insurance costs and rising costs for delivering healthcare.
