We don't have health care and can't afford it. Our work doesn't have health care and I am unable to work more than 10 hours a week. I have been working for this company for almost a year. I have a rotator cuff injury since I fell in May of 2000. We get no paid sick days or holiday pay of any kind. My husband has worked here since 2004. We both like our jobs and it is hard to find a job if you are over 50 years of age. So we just stay on. I need the surgery on the rotator cuff and probably my neck too but I just hang in there. My husband has carpal tunnel in both wrists and still manages to work at a computer all day.
My daughter filed bankrupcy on her medical bills eight years ago because she did't have medical insurance. Her knew job she had wouldn't let her get on their plan until she had worked for them a year. Then she had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Her old job outsourced her job to India and since she had been with them a while she could not find another job even close to what she was making. It took her over six years to get to the wage she was making. So it is good thing she filed bankrupcy. She would have never been able to make payments on the debt.
