I am losing my job at the end of July, and my insurance with it. I have been trying to find healthcare for myself and my wife, especially a prescription rider if I find another job without prescription coverage. I have had back problems but work full time and don't miss because of it. I had a ruptured disc in my neck that caused damage to my spinal cord. The injury left me with chronic pain syndrome which is managed via pain medications, but I live a pretty normal life. My wife takes mild anti-depressants. Because of this I have been told by dozens of insureres "We don't cover people like you." Tha IS a quote, almost verbatim. One company who would cover us wants almost $2000.00 a month with a high deductible and 12 months no coverage for pre existing conditions which includes our prescriptions. Those run about $1800 a month. How am I supposed to live with almost $4000.00 a month goint for insurance and medicine?
