My wife had breast cancer. fortunately I was working and had insurance. She received treatment (prostatectomy). After that, she needed medication to keep the cancer from recurring. well I lost my job and then I could not afford the medication it was too expensive for our means.
This is the problem! For years she was told by doctors to take hormonal therapy because if not, she could get cancer or heart problems, well I know that, that type of hormonal therapy could produce cancer and after you get cancer you have to take other medications to keep the cancer from recurring but that medication produces osteoporosis and other problems including heart problems, so you must take another medication to reduce the osteoporosis and whatever else may happen.
The perfect business. First you promote the cancer, and then sell stuff to reduce the risk of getting cancer again, then sell stuff to try to remedy the damage to their bones and then to fix the damage caused by this other medication and it continues until you die.
After years of contributing for breast cancer research. And find yourself suffering for that same problem you realize that you were taken as well as thousand of people.
Who benefits with the research? If the product of that research goes to pharmaceuticals and we can not afford the product of that research then we are being taken for fools.
I believe that something is very wrong and if the system does not change, well, maybe it is our own fault.
