Before Historic House Vote HCAN Emails Web Video Featuring Martin Sheen and Stockard Channing; Grassroots Organizations Reminding Millions to Call Congress

Washington, DC – As the House of Representatives gears up to pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962), Health Care For America Now (HCAN) – the nation’s largest health care campaign – is activating its huge grassroots membership made up of doctors, nurses, community organizations, labor unions, small business owners, faith-based groups, people of color, seniors, and children’s and women’s rights groups to put in one last call to Congress before Members cast their vote.

HCAN is emailing hundreds of thousands of individual supporters a new web video featuring actors Martin Sheen and Stockard Channing, who played the President and First Lady on television for seven seasons. They reunite to explain the House bill will mean good, affordable care we can count on with lower costs and more competition with the choice of a public health insurance option and to urge people to pick up the phone and take action now.
 
“Grassroots advocates are joining together for one tremendous push because we cannot let the insurance companies stop an important and critical measure at the last minute,” said Richard Kirsch, National Campaign Manager, Health Care for America Now. “The health insurance lobbyists and special interests have done everything they can to try and kill meaningful reform. Members of Congress must know that millions of Americans are ready to keep fighting alongside them until real health care reform becomes the law of the land.”

Immediately after Members of Congress cast their historic votes, HCAN partners across the country will come together again to say thank you and to ask Members to continue to stand strong with phone calls, TV ads, airport greetings, office visits, press conferences, and other events.
