California, even more than the rest of the country, needs health reform-one that ensures Californians affordability, security, and the choice of a public health insurance option. For the first time in more than a generation, we have an opportunity to make real health care reform a reality in 2009, and fix the broken health system on which we all rely.
California has particularly severe problems with our state's health system, and we need a Senator who is championing, not naysaying, the need for reform. We're hoping Senator Feinstein becomes a "champion" for the people of California and stand up for President Obama's health reform, including for strong assurances of affordability, and the choice of a public health insurance initiative. A public health coverage plan would bring down costs, make coverage affordable, force private health insurance companies to compete and help give Californians the guarantee that quality coverage will be there when they need it.
California can't wait!
